CHILILABOMBWE DISTRICT HIV/AIDS COMMITTEE HOLDS FIRST QUARTERLY MEETING

The Chililabombwe District HIV/AIDS Committee today held its first quarterly meeting for the year 2026 at the Chililabombwe Municipal Council Chamber.
The Committee ushered in a new Executive Committee, comprising the following members:
Mr. Sydney Bunda – Chairperson
Mr. Kingston Zuze – Vice Chairperson
Mr. Mike Kasonka – Secretary
Mr. Chileshe Mulenga – Treasurer
During the meeting, the outgoing Executive Committee formally handed over to the newly elected team.
In his remarks, the newly appointed Chairperson, Mr. Sydney Bunda expressed gratitude to the outgoing Executive for their dedication and service, and conveyed confidence in the new team’s ability to advance the Committee’s mandate.
The meeting was convened to review reports from various stakeholders on activities undertaken during the first quarter of 2026 in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the District.
Key activities highlighted in the reports included condom distribution in communities and hotspot areas, community sensitisation programs, and the establishment of youth-friendly corners in selected health facilities.
These youth-friendly spaces are aimed at providing adolescents with access to sexual and reproductive health services in a safe and supportive environment.
Additional interventions reported on included Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC), as well as HIV testing and counselling services.

■ (PPZ) Health Post – Lubengele Compound
■Kasumbalesa Health Post
■Kawama Health Post
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaborative efforts among stakeholders in order to enhance HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and awareness in Chililabombwe District.
